This is the introductory course for students majoring in cosmetology. The course includes the exploration of a variety of subjects including haircutting, hairstyling, skin care, nail care, hair coloring, chemical texturizing and practical experience in cosmetology. Material fee is required for this course.

Men's Haircutting Techniques

Prerequisite(s): A student must have completed COS 141, COS 181 and 1000 hours of a cosmetology program or have a current cosmetology or barber license.

This course focuses on men's haircutting and barbering. The course will include fades, tapers, clipper-cutting, clipper-over-comb, and shear-over-comb techniques. Beard and mustache trims, crew cuts, flat tops, and undercuts will also be covered.

Hair Extension Techniques

Prerequisite(s): COS 141, or enrolled in a cosmetology program with a minimum of 200 hours completed, or a licensed cosmetologist or barber.

This class focuses on several hair extension techniques including: I-Tip, Microtip, Skinweft, Keratip, Plastic tubes, One-step weft, and Sew-ins.
